Blanco Tequila, also referred to as silver, plata or white tequila, is a spirit that is typically bottled right after distillation. It can be aged in steel tanks for up to 4 weeks. Blanco is considered Tequila in its purest form. They are typically clear and true flavors of the Agave plant are present.

Reposado is a classification of aged tequila and translates to "rested". To qualify as a Reposado Tequila, the tequila must be aged in barrels or stored in tanks anywhere between 2 and 11 months. You may use a variety of different wood barrels to age a Reposado, but most use American or French Oak. The spirit takes on a golden hue and typically has a nice balance of Agave and Oak Flavors.

Añejo Tequila is another classification of tequila and translated to "aged". To qualify as an Añejo, the tequila must be aged in barrels anywhere between 1 and 3 years. You may use a variety of different wood barrels to age an Añejo, but most use American or French Oak. Distilleries are no allowed to use barrels that exceed 600 liters. The aging process brings on a dark amber colored Tequila and more complex oak flavors are usually present.

To have the term "tequila" on your bottle it must be produced in Jalisco, Mexico and a few surrounding municipalities. Always look for the phrase "Hecho en Mexico" on the bottle which translates to "Made in Mexico"
